Restaurant Coming Soon...Ish

Steinbones is our concept for a Jew…ish influenced barbecue joint. It’s smoked short rib pastrami, brisket, latkes, fried matzo balls and other goodness. The restaurant is in the works, but in the meantime please try our house BBQ sauce. It’s tangy, a little spicy, mustardy and sweetened with red wine. Great for marinating, dipping and mopping.

Our Story

Steinbones is our concept for a Jew…ish influenced barbecue joint. Plans for Steinbones are in the works, but for now we are focusing our efforts on our sauce. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Interested in how Steinbones came to be? Read on…

Gavin Steinberg has always been drawn to the finer things in life:  bow hunting, hip hop, croquet, smoked meats and Turkish baths.  Jesse Baerkahn's tastes are less refined but equally classy: dance music, barefoot running, tequila, sweater vests and European football.

Jesse can't seem to figure out how to shoot a damn crossbow and Gavin looks ridiculous in a sweater vest, but the two have partnered on a slew of exciting and occasionally profitable business ventures over the past decade. So, of course, when Gavin devised the idea for a Jew...ish inspired BBQ joint called Steinbones, it was Jesse who was his staunchest supporter.  Jesse convinced Gavin that despite his many years of backyard BBQing and meat smoking that he needed someone who actually knew what the hell they were doing in the kitchen.

Enter Chef Steve "Nookie" Postal.  Nookie likes food and loves wearing shorts with crocs, so he became a chef.  He’s cooked in several fine-dining establishments, was Executive Chef at Fenway Park, and most recently opened his own restaurant, Commonwealth, in Cambridge, MA.  From the moment he heard about Steinbones, Nookie was all-in and for over two years he has been scheming on the menu, developing sauces, and throwing pop-up events.  One of his first projects for Steinbones was developing a house BBQ sauce that could be used on pretty much everything edible. We think he nailed it.

The restaurant is coming soon…ish, but in the meantime please enjoy our sauce!
